Humans of UMass Dartmouth

A photo series inspired by Brandon Stantons, Humans of New York. The Facebook page began May of 2013, shortly after the Boston bombings. The University was getting negative media so there was a stigma with associating yourself with the school. Shortly after I picked up the camera and created Humans of UMass Dartmouth to build community outreach. I wanted to show that there was a lot of beauty, hard work, and dedication that lied within the school. It was a shame that an entire student body was defined by the terrible actions of our peer.

There are over 200 photos capturing students frustration with the mundane to a beautiful incite of college and life experiences. The photos are used throughout the University for pamphlets, newspapers, and web banners. In 2015 The Standard Times in New Bedford wrote a piece about the making of the series.
